Curcumin for Hormonal Health

If you haven’t already fallen in love with curcumin, I’m about to give you one more compelling reason you should.

Curcumin is the active compound in turmeric—the spice that makes curry its deep yellow color. Curcumin has powerful antioxidant properties and also influences inflammation in beneficial ways.

People use curcumin for:

  • Brain Health
  • Mood Support
  • Joint Health
  • Healthy Aging
  • And more!

The new reason to love curcumin?

A study that was recently published in the journal Phytomedicine found that curcumin supplements supported healthy levels of fasting blood sugar, testosterone, and estrogen in women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

PCOS is a condition that affects many parts of the endocrine system and its hormones. It has so many varied causes and manifestations that lots of women struggle to find effective relief.

This study was a placebo-controlled clinical trial that compared taking 500mg of curcumin per day to a placebo for 12 weeks, so the results are pretty reliable. I would never give curcumin as a stand-alone recommendation for PCOS, but it’s great to know that this supplement might be a helpful one to throw in the mix.
